Behind the Story

Hi, I’m Jose Roldan—a CSULB Journalism graduate with a passion for telling impactful stories that inform, inspire, and spark conversation.

Throughout my time at Cal State Long Beach, I gained hands-on experience in multiple areas of journalism: conducting interviews, producing broadcast news and sports reports, writing investigative and editorial pieces, and capturing powerful images as a photojournalist.

I’ve developed a strong creative skill set using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, After Effects, InDesign, and Avid—allowing me to bring stories to life through video, photography, and design.

My curiosity drives me to explore a wide range of topics—from the cultural and social impact of drug use, to how crime affects communities, to mental health, animals, breaking news, and sports. Journalism gives me the opportunity to dive deep into these subjects and use my voice to make a meaningful difference.

I’m always looking for opportunities to grow, collaborate, and continue telling stories that matter.
